Hi all, Jordan and I were watching animal planet tonight, and saw a show about cats, and different cat breeds. I think we have have found what Ruca is. A Maine Coon Cat. She has the very long whiskers. the mane of fur, the M on her forehead, and the very furry tail. As well as the flat feet with lots of fuzz. She has long hair, and needs some brushing to keep in order. She also has a lot of hair inside her ears, all of which are apparently halmarks of the Maine Coon cat. So those of you who know, look here, and let me know what you think.

They did say these cats are quite large, and Ruca isn't that big to me. But she is young, and has some growing to do. Comments and ideas would be appreciated. The episode also said that these cats are quite cuddly, which Ruca is when we are sleeping, and she curls up with us. During waking hours, she comes when she sees the cat brush and will lay for brushing. But she doesn't like being held or cuddled, and prefers to just jump on us and wait for her belly to be scratched. Typical cat.

We also have cat that resembles a Maine Coon. She is smallish for sure, but all the other hallmarks you mentioned are Maine Coon. I'll try to find a pic of Bobbi and post. When I saw your cuttie, I noticed quite a resemblance to Bobbi.

nope, not a maine coon... probably just an awesome DLH.
maine coons are hardly ever under 15lbs, and i have yet to meet one that wasnt a snuggle bug 24/7
nanuk is part maine coon and he is nicknamed the care bear.

Maine Coons are very big cats. But yours is a cutie for sure, no matter what it is. wub.gif

I know mine isn't a Maine coon, but she sure is a snuggler. tongue.gif

Thanks all. I wonder if she might be a mix? She is really the fluffiest cat I have ever been around, and seems to have a really dense undercoat and then a long coarse coat on top. But she is not a cuddly cat for the most part, so who knows. We just adore her, and she seems to be settling in well, except for eating the dog food! And believe me, the dogs make a clear birth around her when she is eating their food. wink.gif

Unfortunately, all I know are ragdolls and they are bred cuddlers.

She certainly is adorable though.
