We are planning on moving from NC to Central Mexico and are taking our 2 horses with us. Having some trouble finding horse friendly RV parks along I10 in Texas from Houston to San Antonio. I really don't want to drive more than about 6 hours per day and have found places in Georgia, and Mississippi and one place just NW of Houston and then nothing until San Antonio. Any suggestions. unsure.gif

Sorry, I'm of no real help - but it sure sounds like a fun trip! biggrin.gif

There's a book out that shows all the places you can camp w/horses in the US. I don't know if you could find that book if it would help or not.

I'm not sure of the "fun" part. The farthest I have ever hauled the big dogs is about 4 hours to the mountains in NC. This is going to be 1,500 miles to Laredo, TX and then about 12 hours to where we are moving. Imagine 4 adults, 4 dogs, 2 horses an RV a truck (2500HD) and 2 trailers.

Don't get me wrong we are looking forward to it, but are also worried about the horses. Water, hay, pooping, leg fatigue, colic. We can take as long as we want since I'll be retired (or is it retarded). Fortunately both our horses are easy keepers. a 9 year old mare and a 14 year old gelding both paints.

I don't think Wal_Mart would like 2 horses in their parking lot over night, but I may be wrong.

If anyone has suggestions for a long haul I am all ears.

Not sure if this might help but take a look and see:

If Good Sam doesn't have something directly, they may be able to refer you to somewhere/one else. In any event, good luck with your move and safe travels to everyone, two-legged and four-legged alike.

You can try looking at www.horsemotels.com That is a web site listing private stables all over the country that open their doors to travelers. Many have rv hook ups. Not real sure about Mexico tho. Good luck. It does sound like a good adventure.
